Dr. Tracy Wharton

Associate Director of Research for the McCormick Research Institute
Dr. Tracy Wharton is a licensed clinical social worker in the states of Florida and Alabama. She is currently an Assistant  professor of Social Work with a secondary joint appointment to the College of Medicine: Clinical Sciences at the University of Central Florida. Dr. Wharton is also the Associate Director of Research for the McCormick Research Institute (where she is the PI for research on equine facilitated interventions for trauma intervention with veterans), and the IPE training and Apopka clinic planner and team lead for the School of Social Work. She is a member of the Central Florida Dementia Care & Cure Initiative Task Force, and a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Loan Repayment Program Ambassador. Her research interests are in the broad area of healthcare access and quality of care for older adults, dementia caregiver support in community based settings and environmental support for aging in place, and on early identification of high risk behaviors in dementia.

Dr. Magdalena Chiara

Academic Director of the Diploma Management of Health Policies in the Territory
PhD from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Anthropology; with postgraduate studies in economic sociology, regional and urban development. Since 1995, she has been a teaching researcher at the UNGS Conurbano Institute in the area of social policy, dedicated to the policy of health policies with special attention to the dynamics that are constituted in the territories. The results of the investigations in which he participated were published in articles of specialized magazines, chapters of books and books. Among the latter are: "Health, politics and territory", "Integrated territorial management for the health sector" and "Health governed: health policy in Argentina 2001/2011". Professionally, she has worked in planning, implementation and evaluation of social and health policies. He teaches university degree and postgraduate. Since 2017 she has been the Academic Director of the Diploma in Health Policy Management in the Territory (UNGS).

Dr. Fabián Méndez Paz

Director of the Public Health School of the Universidad del Valle
He is a surgeon with a Master's degree in Epidemiology from Universidad del Valle and a PhD in Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University. He is currently full professor and coordinator of the epidemiology and population health research group of the School of Public Health of the Universidad del Valle. Senior researcher at Colciencias. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Colombian Medical Journal. Fulbright Scholar of the Nexus program on Climate Change. His research areas are infectious diseases, environmental epidemiology, environmental health and ecohealth.

Dr. Christovam Barcellos

Researcher at the Fundación Oswaldo Cruz and professor at the Escuela Nacional de Salud Pública de Brasil
Geographer, specialist in public health, doctor in geosciences, he was in charge of the health department in the health secretary of Rio de Janeiro. He is currently a researcher at the Fundación Oswaldo Cruz and a professor at the Escuela Nacional de Salud Pública de Brasil. Researcher of Concejo Nacional de Investigaciones (CNPq).

Dr. Walter Flores

Community of Practitioners in Accountability and Social Action in Health
Dr. Walter Flores: A social scientist and a human rights advocate with over 25 years of professional experience. He holds a PhD and a Masters of Community Health from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK. Dr. Flores’ professional work has been carried-out in more than 30 countries from Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe. His areas of expertise are: health policy analysis, health equity, right to health, democratic governance of public policies and community participation in public policies. Dr. Flores has served as expert advisor for both the World Health Organization and the Pan-American Health Organization on different initiatives and task forces such as: Roadmap to Universal Health Coverage; Ethical guidelines for universal health coverage; Health Systems reform and Equity; Monitoring and accountability of goals for ending childhood obesity and Governance for UHC. He is also a founding member of the Community of Practitioners in Accountability and Social Action in Health (COPASAH) and currently serves as one of its steering committee members. In addition to the academic and professional activities described above, Dr. Flores participates actively with citizens’ movements promoting the right to health and equity.

Dr. Luis Gonzalo Morales Sánchez

District Secretary of Health of Bogotá
Doctor, specialist in Economics and Hospital Management, Master in Public Health and Political Science. He is currently the District Secretary of Health of Bogotá, a position he has held since 2016. He has worked as Director of Insurance of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection; Chairman of the Board of Directors of CAPRECOM EPS; Advisor to the Ministry of Health in indigenous affairs; among others.

Dr. Carlos Carvajal

National Director of Environment and Health of the Public Health Ministry of Ecuador
Medical surgeon, magister in occupational safety and health at the International SEK University, magister in ergonomics at the Universidad de Concepción Chile and PhD in occupational health sciences at the Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico. He is currently the National Director of Environment and Health of the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador. He is also a professor at the Universidad Internacional SEK. He has worked as National Assistant Secretary for Health Promotion and Equality Ministry of Public Health; Attending doctor and Chief of the Health Service of Personnel Hospital Carlos Andrade Marín and Coordinator of Medical Audit-Directorate of General Individual and Family Health Insurance IEES.

María Alexandra Matallana

Director of ISP consulting and continuing education services
Mastery in Public Health at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Specialist in Hospital Administration from the Escuela de Administración de Negocios - EAN. Specialist in Human Talent Management and Odontology from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Professional with more than 17 years of experience in the analysis and design of integral solutions, through consulting and research in the areas of: demand for health services, human talent, labor competencies and ISO 9001-2000 quality (especially in the health sector). Certification as ISO-2008 quality audit.

Dr. Yamasaín Romero

Research professor at the Universidad de la Guajira
Medical surgeon with a master’s degree in educational management from the Universidad de la Guajira. He works as a research professor at the Universidad de la Guajira. Expert in intercultural issues, indigenous health care, with a differential approach.
